Application: Making use of previously acquired knowledge in practical or new ways

Evaluation: Making judgments or decisions based on chosen criteria
  • Evaluating where they are at in terms of level of skill
by constantly referring back to their results sheet during the unit
  • Making choices on what they want to improve and independently going around to different stations to work on drills and activities related to Athletics in an effort to improve upon the desired areas
Self-Management Skills:
Gross Motor Skills: Exhibiting skills in which groups of large muscles are used and the factor of strength is primary

  • Athletics is dependent upon coordinating large muscle groups
Time Management: Using time effectively

The enduring concepts that we wanted to focus on this unit were:

Biomechanics

  • Striving to understand the mechanics behind each event: Summation of Forces
Strength and Endurance
